Ultrasonic wash

What can be washed with ultrasonic cleaner

Ultrasonic cleaning is the only way that can be used to wash different things in cavities or narrow spaces that are not otherwise accessible for washing. The extreme example being ultrasonic washing of seashell, with a hand brush is likely to break the seashell. The ultrasonic cleaning power is based on the miraculous power of water cavitation. That is, the washer will vibrate the washing solution at a high frequency, which will result in many points where the water pressure suddenly drops a lot. As a result of this the fluid will generate microscopic steam bubbles, which will in turn collapse due to the fast situation changes. As the bubble collapses it emits a small micro-jet that is so efficient that it can even erode metal. Examples from the fierce power of cavitation can be found in ship building industry, where huge propellers wear at an absolutely insane pace if they have been spun at too high speeds. This is the result of cavitation at its worst. In an ultrasonic washer, this destructive power is harnessed for cleaning , which in practice rarely breaks anything.
Populated circuit boards (ready made devices) cleaning can have some risk, since heavily vibration can pull off loosely attached components, break something (for example MEMS devices will break) or force the cleaning fluid inside components. On the other hand, the equipment that is usually washed is already broken, so it can’t usually go any worse.

The capacity of our washer is 45l, so its internal dimensions are 500x300x300 (WxHxD). The piece may be small or such that only its washable part fits inside. It is also possible to wash several pieces at a time, provided that they all fit in the washer at a time.

We have successfully cleaned for example the following things:

  • Carburetors:
    • Carburetors from cars
    • Carburetors from snowmobiles
    • Carburetors from boat engines
  • Various oil-operated sticking valves and actuators in cars:
    • BMW, VANOS / Double VANOS / Valvetronic, Camshaft timing and valve lift control
    • Toyota, VVT-i / VVTL-i, Camshaft timing and valve lift control
    • Honda, VTEC, Camshaft timing and valve lift control
Volkswagen / Audi, VVT / AVS, Camshaft timing and valve lift control
    • Fiat / Alfa Romeo, MultiAir / VVT, Valve opening and timing control
    • Ford, Ti-VCT, Twin independent camshaft timing
Hyundai / Kia, CVVT, Continuously variable camshaft timing

The washing result can be influenced by different detergents

The washing result can be influenced by different detergents. As a rule, there are three categories of detergents, namely acidic, neutral and alkaline. Water, distilled water, demineralized water, alcohol or other solvent may be used as the detergent. We can also adjust the temperature of the washing liquid up to 60°C. Heat improves detergent performance, but some things may not tolerate it.

Pricing

Pricing will be determined on a case-by-case basis and will be depend, among other things, on the washing time used, the size of the item (can it be washed in a small jar or will we consume about 35l of detergent across the scale whole basin), washing liquid used and detergent. More detailed pricing information can be found in the Price List or by telling us what you would like to wash. We also listen to reasonable suggestions if you happen to already have a target price in mind.
